Quick verdict: Sleepeezee Air Cool 1200 Pocket Spring Mattress review

The Sleepeezee Air Cool 1200 Pocket Spring Mattress is a mid-range pocket sprung mattress, typically priced between £549 and £895. After testing, we rated it around 5/10 for firmness, making it one of the softer mattresses in this price range.

It offers a comfortable feel with good pressure relief, particularly for side sleepers, and performs well on both edge support and motion transfer. Despite its softer feel, it maintains a reassuring level of support across the mattress and feels well made, which is in line with Sleepeezee’s reputation as a long-established British brand.

However, it is likely to feel too soft for heavier sleepers or those who sleep on their front or back, where greater support is usually needed. Some sleepers may also prefer a firmer mattress to avoid sinking in too much over time.

Overall, this is a high-quality and comfortable mattress that represents good value for money, particularly if you are looking for a softer feel and strong performance in key areas.

Pros

  • Comfortable soft-to-medium feel (5/10)
  • Good edge support for a softer mattress
  • Minimal motion transfer

Cons

  • Too soft for front and back sleepers
  • Less supportive for heavier individuals

Onto the review!

It’s fair to say that the Sleepeezee Aircool 1200 is one of the softer mattresses that we have tried recently.

Overall I would give it a rating of 5/10 for firmness, with 1/10 being soft and 10/10 being very firm.

Firmness ratings in different sleeping positions for the Sleepeezee Air Cool 1200 Pocket Spring Mattress

We began by testing the mattress out in various sleeping positions to see how it felt to us. Of course, the result will be different depending on your own weight and build. I weigh about 13 stone and I’m six foot tall, which will hopefully give you a good starting point in your own research.

I started by trying out the mattress on my front, which is my favoured sleeping position. I found it just was slightly too soft for me. It felt comfortable, but I suspected that I wasn’t quite getting adequate support for my weight and build.

I then flipped over onto my back to test this out further. Again, I felt quite comfortable but also felt like I wasn’t quite getting adequate support and might regret it in the morning.

A good way to test this out is to put your hand underneath your back. If it goes under very easily then the mattress is probably a bit too hard for you. If it’s very hard to get your hand under the mattress then it’s probably a bit too soft for you.

The latter was true in this case (i.e. it was quite an effort to get my hand underneath my back). If that happens then there’s a risk that your spine won’t be in a natural position when you’re asleep.

I then turned onto my side and found the mattress was about right for me. My hips and my shoulders felt supported but also sunk in quite a bit so that it was comfortable and they were not under too much pressure.

Next, I tried a couple of tests where you sit on the edge of the mattress and lie right on the edge of the mattress.

This being a relatively soft mattress I did rather expect it to sink a lot at the edge. However as you can see from the photo this wasn’t really the case and it kept its strength well. This is a good sign of build quality and implies that the mattress will have some durability about it. It also makes life a bit easier if you’re trying to get dressed while sat on the side of the bed!

I got similarly positive results when I was lying down on the edge of the bed. A poor quality mattress will make you feel as though you’re falling out of the bed but this wasn’t the case with this Sleepeezee mattress.

We then spent a little bit of time rolling around on the bed to see how much it caused the other side of the bed to move and how much could be felt. Again, the mattress performed well and we only felt minimal movement.

Final thoughts on the Sleepeezee Air Cool 1200 Pocket Spring Mattress

As you can see, this mattress performed very well. It’s a little too soft for my taste but in terms of quality and durability I would say it’s a high performer. This is not terribly surprising as Sleepeezee is an excellent and well-established British brand. It holds a Royal Warrant, although I can’t be sure that the King carried out as rigorous a test as I did.

Considering the high quality and good brand name I would say that this mattress represents excellent value. When we tested it we found that a double was £675 pounds with the single at £549 and a king size at £719. King size was £895.
