When we tested the Dream Team Gold Corsham 5600 Pocket Memory Mattress, it was being sold for £1249 in single with a small double costing you £250 extra or £1499. A king size was being sold for £1799 and a super king size for £1999
As you can see, this is a relatively expensive mattress so we wanted to see what you got for your money.

Firmness rating of the Dream Team Gold Corsham 5600 Pocket Memory Mattress
After testing this mattress ourselves, we’re giving it a firmness rating of 8.5/10 with 10/10 being very very firm and 1/10 being very soft.
Generally speaking, a very firm mattress such as this one will be more suited to someone who is heavier than average and who sleeps on their back or front. It is less likely to be the right mattress for you if you are average weight or below average weight. It’s also more likely to suit front/back sleepers than side sleepers.
Of course, testing it out of yourself is a very good idea!
Testing out different sleeping positions on the Dream Team Gold Corsham 5600 Pocket Memory Mattress
I started off by laying on my back and putting my hand underneath to carry out what we call the spine test. When you lay on a mattress, you want your spine to end up in a nice natural position rather than being forced into an uncomfortable angle.
The simplest test around is to put your hand underneath your spine. If it’s very easy to put your hand underneath then the mattress is probably a little too firm for you. If it’s very difficult to get your hands underneath, the mattress is probably a little too soft for you. In this case I found the mattress was too firm for me whether I was on my front, my back or my side. It was particularly firm whilst lying on my side, which is not surprising.
Strength at the sides on the Dream Team Gold Corsham 5600 Pocket Memory Mattress
The next test in our rigorous testing of this mattress was to look at how much strength it offers to the very edges. It boasts of having edge support to prevent roll off and we think this is a key factor to consider when you’re buying a mattress. It’s obviously a much bigger factor if you are sharing a bed with someone than if you have the luxury of a large mattress all to yourself.
In this case, we felt the edge firmness was very good whilst lying on our side at the very edge of the mattress. We certainly didn’t feel as though we were about to fall off. As a general rule, firmer mattresses do offer more strength at the edges but it was a good performance nonetheless.
We then moved on to testing the compression of the mattress when we sat down on the edge. Again, it was a good performance, which is what we would expect from a high quality pocket sprung mattress at this price point in a firm tension.

Handles on the Dream Team Gold Corsham 5600 Pocket Memory Mattress
The handles on this mattress are robustly made. This may seem like a small factor when you were deciding which mattress to buy, but we do think that it’s an indication of quality. Heavier and more robust mattresses tend to be made with good thick handles so that you can move them around when you need to.
This mattress comes with a large topper, which means that it is single sided and you won’t be flipping it over. However, you do need to rotate it round regularly to ensure that it doesn’t get too many lumps or bumps.

Motion transfer on the Dream Team Gold Corsham 5600 Pocket Memory Mattress
Motion transfer is basically how much you will feel the person next to you moving when they get in or out of bed. Again, it’s a bigger issue if you’re sharing a bed with somebody else and it tends to be more of an issue on sprung mattresses than on foam mattresses. This mattress is a pocket sprung mattress but it also has a layer of memory foam on top, so I was interested to see how well it will perform on motion transfer.
To test this out we like to lie side by side and get one person to move whilst the other person lies on the bed.
You can also do tests such as balancing water on the mattress, but we think a real life exercise works quite well.
On motion transfer, we felt that this mattress offered a very strong performance and we were impressed with how it performed.
We noticed minimal wibble wobble, as I like to call it!
Construction of the Dream Team Gold Corsham 5600 Pocket Memory Mattress
This mattress is quite an expensive one considering that it is effectively a Dreams own brand mattress. However, it is a sizable and robust mattress that has a complicated design, which is what it pushes the price up. At 30cm deep, it is also one of the deeper mattresses that you will find.
You’ll notice that it advertises as having 5,600 pocket springs, but it’s worth exploring a bit more about what this actually means.
Firstly, this number relates to the king size model. You’ll get a smaller number on single and double mattresses and a larger number on a super king size mattress. Also worth mentioning is that the springs are spread out between three layers. You generally don’t get more than 2000 full size pocket springs on one layer on a king size mattress.
The layer doing most of the work is the larger pocket springs, which are towards the bottom of the mattress. Above it are two layers of micro pocket springs, which will do a lot less for support but contribute towards the comfort.
In between the springs is a combination of synthetic materials including polyester and memory foam. Memory foam is a type of foam that doesn’t bounce back as quickly as standard foam, and it’s good for offering all over support. Some people find that memory foam makes them feel a bit warm but mattresses such as this use various techniques to help with keeping you cool. In this case, it is graphite infused but others use gel or other techniques.
This then is a substantial mattress, which is reflected in the price

Final thoughts on the Dream Team Gold Corsham 5600 Pocket Memory Mattress
We are impressed with the build quality of this mattress but it is worth saying that it is relatively expensive. The Dreams website says that you get a one-year guarantee but I would be very surprised if that is the case. Typically, a mattress of this price and design would come with a mattress warranty of about seven to ten years. I expect this is a typo on the website and we’ll update this page if we find out otherwise.
We were impressed with how it performed on motion transfer and on edge support. It’s worth emphasising though that this is a very firm mattress, which is more likely to be suitable for you if you are heavier and lie on your front or back.
If you’re spending this sort of money on a mattress I would also take a look at some of the longest established big brands such as Hypnos, Sleepeezee and Vispring. If you’re considering a memory foam mattress, then I would also take a look at Tempur, which is the leader at the luxury end of the market.
