A TV bed is a neat way to watch telly in bed without having cables trailing around. The best TV beds are hidden away most of the time and then lift up remotely when you press a button.
Cheaper TV beds require you to actually get out of bed to move it up and down manually (whatever next!)
Some TV beds come with TVs included, whilst others allow you to use your own TV. If you’re as fussy as me about TVs you will probably prefer to pick your own set separately.
You can usually store things like PVRs (that’s a Personal Video Recorder for my mother’s benefit), DVD players and games consoles in storage sections under the bed as well.
We’ve picked out five of the best TV beds on sale in the UK by comparing things like specification, value for money and customer reviews. Prices are for double mattresses, not including mattresses. 1. Dreams Seoul Upholstered TV Bed – £1499 (32 inch TV included)
This Dreams TV bed isn’t the cheapest and it’s only available in one colour. However, it has a lot going for it and it gets terrific reviews from customers (4.8/5 from 400+ customers.
For a start, you get a 32 inch TV included with this one which is probably worth a couple of hundred pounds.
Upgrading to an ottoman or adjustable bed
You can then pick from various upgrades, including adding better speakers or turning it into an ottoman bed That means that it lifts up at the side to reveal a huge amount of extra storage space under the bed. Amongst the storage space is a place for keeping DVD players, Blu Ray players and PVRs hidden away.
Whichever version you choose, the TV magically lifts up when you press a button from bed. Well, it isn’t magic, it’s just some clever electronics but I’m easily impressed.
Unfortunately, it only comes with a one year guarantee which I consider a bit disappointing for a £1500+ bedframe.
Pros: TV is included and there’s the option to add storage or an adjustable base. It also has a concealed TV, gets very good reviews and it offers an electric lifting mechanism.
Cons: it only has a one year warranty and it only comes in one colour. This TV bed is also quite expensive.

2. Argos Gemini TV Bed – £570 (TV not included)
This cheap TV bed from Argos has the name Habitat but it’s listed under the Argos Home range. It doesn’t have the flashy features of some of the others on this list, but it’s reasonably priced and has outstanding customer reviews (4.7/5).
The main downsides are that a) you don’t get a TV with it and b) it only has a manual TV lifting mechanism. So, if your dream is to lie in bed and press a button to make the TV appear then this isn’t for you. However, it’s ideal if you plan to keep the TV in view the whole time and already have a 32 inch TV lying around.
For this price, the only colour option is black but there are more expensive ones in the Argos range in other neutral colours.
It comes with a one year guarantee and has a compartment underneath for your Betamax player or your Laserdisc player (Ed: think you might need to update this).
Pros: this TV bed has a low price and it gets very good customer reviews
Cons: there’s no TV included and it has a manual lifting mechanism. You also only get one colour at this price and the one year guarantee is shorter than some of the best TV beds.

3. Bensons for Beds Hi/Rhea TV Bed – £1099/£1599 (TV included)
Bensons for Beds had a big overhaul of their range of TV beds. Previously, we recommended the Fremont and Malaga models but these have now been replaced by Hi and Rhea in a light grey.
The Bensons for Beds Rhea TV bed is available with or without ottoman storage whilst the Hi isn’t an ottoman bed. You get a TV included whichever model you choose, and you can go for either a 32 inch telly or a 42 inch model.
Both models go right up to super king size, if you can afford it!
It’s worth mentioning that the price of the Rhea and Starla models is somewhat higher than the previous Fremont and Malaga models. However, the warranty has been bumped up from one year to five years. That’s a real bonus when you are purchasing an item with moving parts and electronics.
As an aside, if you’re looking for a single TV bed you’ll find there aren’t many on the market in the UK. We found a couple at this TV Bed website or you can buy the Rhea model as small double TV bed from Bensons for Beds. A small double bed is 4 foot wide whilst a single bed is 3 foot wide, so you’ll need an extra 30cm of space.
Pros: The TV is included and it has an electric lifting mechanism. It’s also sold by a trusted bed retailer. You get a five year guarantee.
Cons: They come in a limited choice of colours. There are also very few reviews to go on. Prices are quite high compared to previous models sold at Bensons for Beds.

4. Bensons for Beds Saros TV Bed – £2499 (42 inch TV included)
The Saros is another classy TV bed from Bensons for Beds with the added bonus of being an Ottoman bed too. It is the most expensive bed in our list.
For your money you get a bigger screen than most TV beds (42 inch instead of 32 inch) and you get built in speakers so you can wake the neighbours from the comfort of your own bed.
There are a couple of colours to choose from including light and dark grey, so not terribly exciting. Unusually it comes in double, kingsize and super king size. Double TV beds and king size TV beds are common, but super king size TV beds are less easy to find.
There aren’t any reviews available at the moment unfortunately but Bensons for Beds TV beds generally get good reviews.
Another improvement over most of the TV beds in our top five is that this one comes with a five guarantee rather than one year.
Pros: you get a longer warranty than that offered by most rivals. It also has a larger TV screen than most models and it comes with built in speakers. The bed also has Ottoman storage.
Cons: The choice of colours is limited and it is more expensive than some TV beds

5. Dreams Foley Upholstered TV Bed – £1399 (43 inch TV included)
Finally, another posh TV bed from Dreams which comes in an upholstered fabric material.
The Dreams Foley model has the option of a bigger TV than most TV beds we’ve found (43 inch). It doesn’t have speakers at the foot of the bed. The TV lifts up and down with a remote control, although I don’t think I’d ever get out of bed if I had this setup.
You can buy the Dreams Foley TV bed in double, king size or super king size and you can upgrade from standard slats to spring slats that will give you a bit more comfort.
Pros: You get a large screen and a nice upholstered finish
Cons: You only get a disappointing one year warranty.

As our table shows, there’s a big range in price amongst our selection of TV beds. The Argos model will cost you about a quarter of the two most expensive models.
However, you might feel the upgrades are worth it.
Upgrading to the best TV beds
For starters, the Bensons for Beds and Dreams Tokyo models have good-sized TVs included. The Argos Gemini model doesn’t have a TV at all, whilst the Dreams Osaka model only has space for a 32 inch model.
If you go for the Argos model, then a 32 inch TV is not expensive nowadays so you’ll only need to budget another £150-£200. That still makes it about £400 cheaper than the cheaper Bensons for Beds and Dreams models.
Electric lifting mechanisms are included with most of the TVs on our list. I would say that it’s only really a feature worth having if you will actually be storing it away.
One key factor might be the size of TV bed that you are looking for. All of the TV beds we included are available in double and king size, but if you want a super king size model than the choice narrows.
Built in speakers is a nice feature to have, but you’ll have to pay high prices for that.
What does ‘our value rating’ mean on our best TV beds guide?
Our Value Rating is scored out of five and is our own view on how much you are getting for your money. We use the on-the-day price and compare it to other products as well as looking as specification, brand reputation, guarantee length and so on. The best value products are given the full five stars which means ‘Exceptionally good value’. They aren’t necessarily the best product but you are getting a lot for your money. Four star products are ‘very good value’ whilst three star products are ‘good value’. We don’t tend to include one star and two star products in our guides as we think these products are ‘reasonably good value’ and ‘poor value’.
