I was intrigued to try out the Sleepeezee Memory Sense 2300 Mattress.
The Sleepeezee brand is one that we are big fans of (see our full guide). They usually uses traditional manufacturing methods and have held a Royal Warrant but their mattresses tend to be quite a lot more affordable than prestigious brands such as Vispring and Hypnos.
In this case, I was intrigued to try it because it goes beyond using traditional and natural materials and instead incorporates memory foam into the design.
That is quite unusual for traditional mattress manufacturer. Brands such as Hypnos and Vispring steer away from foam in their designs.

Price of the Sleepeezee Memory Sense 2300 Mattress
When we checked, this mattress was being sold for £1149 in the double size or £1299 in the king size. The single model was £949, whilst the super king size was £1499. However, you may be able to pick it up at a cheaper price.
Firmness rating of the Sleepeezee Memory Sense 2300 Mattress
I’m a natural front sleeper and weigh about 13 stone. I’m about six foot tall. For me, this mattress was a whisker too firm.
However, it may be suitable for you if you are slightly heavier than I am, or if you prefer a slightly firmer feel than I do.
Officially, it is described as medium by Sleepeezee. Personally, I would put it in the medium-firm category and give it a score of 7/10 or 8/10, with one being soft and 10 being firm.
To investigate this a little further, I like to carry out a few simple tests. First, I lie on my back and put my hand underneath my spine. It was relatively easy to get my hand underneath, which suggests that it is not quite right for me.
It felt quiet comfortable but just ever so slightly too firm for my personal taste.
I had similar results when lying on my front. I’m sure it would do the job for me but I would prefer something just ever so slightly softer.
It was much too firm for me whilst lying on my side. Of course, you need to try these things for yourself, but if you are the same weight and build as me and sleep on your side then I would suggest that this mattress might put too much pressure onto your shoulders and hips.

Strength test on the edges of the Sleepeezee Memory Sense 2300 Mattress
Here’s a simple test you can do yourself if you’re trying out a mattress.
Roll onto your side and lie on the very edge of the mattress, as far as you can without falling off.
If the mattress maintains a similar firmness rating and doesn’t sink too much, then it’s a good sign. If you find yourself on the floor, then it’s a very bad sign.
This Sleepeezee mattress was excellent in this test and offered a consistent firmness across the whole surface. I was not surprised by this, as a brand such as this uses manufacturing techniques with this in mind.

Motion transfer on the Sleepeezee Memory Sense 2300 Mattress
If you share a bed with someone who wriggles a lot, or gets in or out during the night a lot, then you should be concerned about motion transfer.
This is how much a mattress moves side to side and can affect your sleep quite considerably. It is particularly a concern if your partner is much larger than you are.
In the case of this Sleepeezee mattress, we did not pick up too much motion transfer. Very firm foam mattresses tend to rank best in this regard (we have found Tempur mattresses to be exceptionally good when it comes to motion transfer).
However, considering this is a sprung mattress we felt that it performed very well with only minimal wobble.
If you want to test this for yourself at a showroom, then I would recommend visiting with a partner and taking turns to re-enact a night in bed (ooer missus).
One person lies down whilst the other gets in and out and shuffles around. The second person closes their eyes and tries to guess when the person is moving.
You may feel like a bit of a wally but it is worth it in the long run.
Handles on the Sleepeezee Memory Sense 2300 Mattress
You may conclude that I’m a very dull man but I always look at the handles on a mattress. This gives an indication of overall strength and quality of stitching but is also a practical point, as it can be a weak point on a mattress. This particular mattress should not be turned over as it has a topper design but it should be turned around, so you’ll be pulling on the handles quite regularly.
As you would expect from a brand such as Sleepeezee, the handles are robustly made and look built to last the duration of the mattress’ lifespan.

Design and specification of the Sleepeezee Memory Sense 2300 Mattress
As alluded to earlier, this Sleepeezee mattress has springs towards the bottom and memory foam towards the top. Nowadays, a mattress such as this is often called a hybrid mattress. That’s because it combines the traditional pocket sprung design with the more modern memory foam design.
It’s worth saying that it’s a very deep mattress and you may struggle to get your standard fitted sheets to cover it completely.

And finally…
Unsurprisingly, we were impressed with the quality of this mattress. It is a relatively expensive mattress by Sleepeezee’s normal standards, so I would be disappointed if it didn’t come up to scratch. However, it performed very well on the tests that we did, looking at its strength to the edges and motion transfer.
For me personally, it was a little bit too firm but it may be just right for you.
